My car, the 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid |
These are a few of my favorite things...
A great American poet once wrote that we are all living in a material world, adding that she indeed was a material girl. While some may detest such an existance, I must confess that I really do love all of my stuff. In fact, I like some of it so much that I want to show it off.

My Sports Memorabilia Collection

I have been a sports nut since I was about eight, and I have all the stuff to prove it. From posters to sports cards, autographs and programs, I have accumulated more sports memorabilia in about 15 years than most people think of getting in a lifetime. In all, my sports card collection includes about 200,000 cards, with about 80% of those being in baseball. The remaining 20% are split between basketball and football. Currently, my quest is to obtain every Topps baseball set back to the year of my birth (1980). So far, 1980-1993 is complete.
I also have a fairly large autograph collection ranging from signatures that I obtained in person (Reggie Jackson, Goose Gossage, Tony Larussa) to those obtained through the mail (Will Clark) and a few that I pulled from packs of cards (Joe Morgan, Maury Wills). In recent years, I have expanded my collection to include more autographed memorabilia, including basketballs signed by the entire 1988-89, 1989-90, 1991-92 and 2002-03 Portland Trailblazers and 2002 Elite Eight Oregon Ducks; pennants signed by the 1979-80, 1988-89 and 1999-2000 Portland Trailblazers, posters signed by the entire 1995-96 and 2003-04 Portland Trailblazers, a game-used Atlantic League baseball signed by Rickey Henderson while playing with the Newark Bears, and a game-used Interational League baseball signed by Darryl Strawberry while he was with the Tidewater Tides in 1983.
My Music Collection
One of my other loves is music. As a consequence, I have accumulated more than 1000 albums since I was about 14. I purchase the majority of my CDs used, as was the case when I first became hooked on music- while in high school, and (more specifically), when I was serving as a DJ. At that time, the quest for CDs was sort of an obsession, that led to me having everything ever recorded by several of my favorite bands. No matter what I do, there is usually music playing. My Car

So here's the car - the 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid. That's right, I am officially an eco-friendly driver now, and I'm doing it at 45-50 mpg. I bought this car on December 29, 2006 and so far it has taken me to and from several Ducks basketball games and as a very big exercise, to Arizona and back for Spring Training. It's been a great car so far, and the tax benefits helped quite a bit too... but I still miss my '66 Mustang.
